So the first thing to note is that essential purpose travelers will not have to quarantine.
Essential purpose for purposes of this quarantine restriction will include travel required for personal safety; food, beverage or medicine; medical care; care of others; and to perform work, services or functions deemed critical to public health and safety, as well as economic and national security, as set forth in Stay Home/Stay Safe. This is one of the few quarantine orders that applies very broadly (to all inbound, non-essential travelers).
In some cases, like Texas, we are seeing mandatory quarantines being issued for people coming in from specific states like Louisiana. But in this case, the quarantine is applying much broader and will impact all travelers arriving in the state.
Theres also the additional advisory that is discouraging travel from the hotspots. In reference to hotspots, the governor was specifically referring to Florida, Louisiana, and the cities of Detroit, Chicago, and New York City.
Something that sticks out with this quarantine order is that it states that lodging facilities, including hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, Airbnbs, and even private camping facilities and RV parks, will be closed except for some exceptions.
Exceptions would include providing housing to certain people like those needing quarantine, homeless people, or healthcare workers.
With these quarantines tightening up, it is going to be virtually impossible to travel without a quarantine in certain states in hot spot regions.
Not that you should be traveling right now for pleasure anyways but if you were planning on escaping to a rural area in Vermont or something like that, it does not look like that is not possible without a quarantine and it would also be against the recommendations from the government for many.
Utterly ridiculous. Vermont is one of the least densely populated states in the nation, especially for one that isnt covered by desert, high mountains or arctic snow.
Enforced HOW, exactly?
Out-of-state people will be forced to attend a Bernie Sanders rally.
My grandson works in Burlington, and he says they're getting flooded with out-of-state people hoping to escape COVID-19.
Maple syrup vendors hit the hardest.
This is undoable. Here in New Hampshire people are coming back to their summer homes early BECAUSE we only have a few cases. How are they going to stop these people coming from NY, NJ, Conn..? Send cops out to these homes?
Pure virtue signal. There is no way to track who is coming into your state via interstates, back country roads, hiking through the woods or whatever. It’s why Trump didn’t quarantine New York.
Yep. Population is 624,000 and 9600 square miles so 65 folks per square mile. There are 640 acres in a square mile so each person can occupy about ten acres.
In any case, I aint interested in crowding you Berniebots.
I’ve yet to see how any states throwing up such cordons around the state are going to enforce it.
Are they stopping all traffic on the interstate highways and demanding proof that they are traveling on essential business? What would constitute proof? Will the police adjudicate on the spot if you are essential or not and turn you back if you aren’t? Won’t the traffic back up for miles and miles at the borders? How can they possibly police all the secondary roads entering the state much less the many rural roads?
How will the hotels, motels, and AirBnBs know that the traveler is on essential business?
Enforcement seems utterly impossible. So, in the end, is this ultimately just an honor system?
“Out-of-state people will be forced to attend a Bernie Sanders rally.”
LOL. Truly I am LOL. Thanks!
Are you kidding? There’s nothing more essential than genuine maple syrup on my waffle!
Does this cover border-hopping bears?
I hope they aren’t expecting to find any toilet paper.
Don’t stop there governor, just blockade all roads and declare martial law..........
VT is a geezer state. Inconsiderate, selfish SOBs fleering from hot zones could do a lot of harm.
Good for VT.
The governor's got that covered
Vermont Country Store ships :-)
Is Vermont a “sanctuary state” Just wondering.
