I’ve heard your HEB stories, before. Sorry you have a bad one.
It sounds like the old HEB Pantry’s.
My sis had one near her, at one time. HORRIBLE!
Nothing like the modern HEBs, HEB Plus stores.
How far are you from the next (larger/regular/nicer) HEB?
Yep, HEB is very well run.
Last week in our VERY small town HEB, I spotted many unfamiliar faces and a lot of them looked like “city folks” because they were/are. Asked a stocker about the LIMIT signs and he said “Yeah we had to put them out. Some guy drove down from north of Houston, 140 miles from here, and bought out the entire meat section and about 50% of the eggs. Nothing we could do to stop him so management put up those signs.”
Today only the paper isle was wiped out at 11 AM and they were restocking eggs. We have eggs from our 3 remaining chickens(2 or 3 a day now that its warming up) and get more from a friend at work who has chickens and excess eggs. Barter is involved sometimes.
Wow! impressive. now I have to cook something every day.
My son failed his Latin and has to make A’s to get credit this year.
So I’m helping him learn a huge list of Latin vocabulary, declensions etc...its such an odd period. LOL
Then you are NOT a hoarder. Only if you buy excessive quantities when demand is very high could you fit that description.
I started (at HEB, Sams and Wallyworld) in very early February, and now I am just filling in small holes in my stock - holes usually caused by urges for particular foods by someone in the house. Not going out much anymore, today was first since Thursday, likely wont go out for 3-4 days.
Wow...what a dummy, that guy was!
He could’ve driven about 25 mins southwest...to the Fulshear/Katy area and bought all of the eggs and meat he’d want, at those HEBs. My sis/neice all said they had no problem finding items.
I guess our rural locations were better supplied. I drive to these stores (when I go grocery shopping...which, thankfully, we haven’t had to do, since all of this started)....HEBs are worth the drive! They’re curbside and delivery systems are great, as well.
I think ALL HEBs have had limit signs, on some items. That’s what this article explains....it’s so inventory would spread out, throughout the day, among shoppers.
Yep. We finished our shopping in late January, as well.
We saw this coming.
When your name is Howard E. Butt you learn early not to take anything for granted ...
yes its a bummer if u just need green onions or lemon. have not been to a grocery in over a week
HEB is the best!
As a young child, HEB was in our small town. Donated to the schools for a week in the Tx Hill Country at their camp. Beautiful place.
While in the military, I shopped there instead of the commissary due to better prices.
I went to a local store this week and very impressed with new practices. One entrance, employees disinfecting carts and giving it to customers. Inside, hand dispensers before you shopped and floor guides for distancing.
It was well supervised and as I left a bit overwhelming that we are here.
Thank you HEB.
I miss HEB.
:-(
So when this is done, goes. HEB take away that $2.00 raise?
Two days ago as I was checking out at HEB and I told the lady, “I most appreciate what you and HEB are doing in this crisis.” She just said, “I am doing my job.” That was at the Belton, Texas HEB.
Those girls and guys are working their asses off. Our HEB is closing early. The reason they are closing early is to restock their empty shelves for the next day.
HEB is one of the good guys and to be commended.
Also outside of this time I have found the employees of HEB some of the absolute best. They are not just stockers, and checkers and others. All want to serve you pleasantly.
I particularly like the fish market. When it comes to fresh fish and shrimp etc. I am particular in the extreme. The man behind the counter always makes it right.
That would be Austin. No way am I going to that lib haven. The few times I had stopped in years ago, I’d wander around just in awe.
This is a new and wee bit larger store from the HEB we used to have 20 years ago. Sadly, the old store was much better and never had empty shelves. Everyone hates it. An upset local guy even had a site about it.
Sorry about your sister’s store but glad to know this isn’t the only one. Ours never claimed to be a Pantry store but guess it maybe be.
People from Austin and Round Rock came here and wiped us out like locusts.
San Saba, TX had their only store in the entire county burn on March 20. Thankfully, they were able to find a new building and are back in business.
The HEB in my town rocks.
For the past few years I drive an extra mile or two to H-E-B. Both the stores I go to usually have everything I am looking for. There are always plenty of checkouts open and the cashiers are very fast. During the pandemic I have had to visit several different stores. When I could not find produce at H-E-B, I'd find it at Kroger. H-E-B did not have any paper products last time I checked, but I was able to get a 6-pack of paper towels at Kroger. So unfortunately I have to visit several stores at a time in which I'd rather not be exposed to so much humanity.
I MISS HEB !!!
I wish they would open a few up here in NC. HEB would put Harris Teter, Food Lion and Lowes Foods out of Business in a few months.
Ive been over here for 11+ years now and still cant find the Quality and Prices here. Especially Beef, a Tenderloin over here is $25.00 @ pound and nowhere near the Quality and Taste. And they are small as well. Brisket is hard to find here and is around $6-7.00 @ pound. Thank The Lord a REAL Texas BBQ place opened up on Main Street and the Owners are from Texas so I can get a fix just a mile away from my house.
Here’s the good stuff, online. I’ve bought everything from them for the past 15-17yrs.
