Ketones are readily accepted by the brain, and are the preferred fuel.
In extended fasts, the brain has been shown to run on 66% ketones, 33% glucose.
It has been shown about three tablespoons of MCT oil (throughout the day) can restore about 10% of brain function. MCT oil is rapidly converted to ketones in the liver.

Alzheimer's is a definite type of dementia, and to date there is no stopping it's downhill progression. At least not according to the doctors who are specialists in Alzheimer's
Other forms of dementia might respond to treatments.
