Trump cites report Cuomo passed on chance to buy 16,000 ventilators in 2015

New York state public health officials established a few years ago established a task force to investigate the lack of ventilators in the state and find a way to remedy the situation.

The task force discovered that were 7,250 ventilators in New York hospitals and about 1,900 in nursing homes – with most of them already in use. Even with the state’s own stockpile, that task force said there was only 2,800 total ventilators available, despite health officials’ warnings that a major outbreak could require 18,600 New Yorkers to be on the machines each week during the crisis’ peak.

Instead of buying the ventilators in 2015, the task force created a priority system for who would be put on a ventilator – red being the most dire, blue being the least – and assigned a triage officer, or “death panel” as Trump said, to make the life-or-death decisions.

"We need the federal help, and we need the federal help now,” Cuomo said. “Deploy the ventilators around the country as they are needed. Different regions have different curbs of the infection. New York is the canary in the coal mine. New York is going first.”

His presentation today ( Cuomo) was a contradiction.

He stated in his presser today I need 30,000 ventilators while the number actually hospitalized and in that state of care is around 700 and he already received 400.

He’s using doomsday stats to justify Federal Relief so he can

1. blame if not delivered to his numbers

2. not have to manage as he will claim Trump/Feds screwed him.

Typical weasel trying to look like a leader

Nationally — 2010 (H1N1 novel virus):

“The healthcare industry did a poor job of maintaining adequate supplies of N95 respirators. It wasn’t until the pandemic began in earnest that the industry took a hard look at its existing supply of N95s, and only then did many companies realize that they would be facing a significant shortage.”

Apparently, the CDC and our healthcare industry did not learn, did not care and/or did not want to spend the money. Where did money for that go?

If he’s trying to cite computer models similar to those used in “climate change”, why is NYC not under 3 ft. of seawater? Another Drama Queen.
