I see the stock meltdown as different from the larger economic meltdown. But both hurt, in different ways. The people over 55 (like me) are watching their retirement plans go in the toilet. That’s the stock meltdown. But we were going to vote Trump anyway.
The larger economic meltdown is everyone who has lost paychecks, maybe even jobs. That’s independent of the market, that’s the direct result of physically shutting down the economy. For the cohort under 55, they don’t care as much about the stock market as they do about next month’s mortgage. Those are the politically vulnerable.
