President Donald Trump shot off a furious tweet to Gov. J.B. Pritzker after the Illinois leader told CNN Sunday he needs more federal help to procure masks and other protective equipment sorely needed as the coronavirus pandemic swells.
@JBPritzker Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News @CNN & Concast (MSDNC), shouldnt be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings. We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be! Trump fumed in the tweet.
Pritzker, at his Thompson Center briefing, brought up Trump.
Im finding it hard to contain my anger with Donald Trumps response to this national crisis. I have doctors and nurses and first responders begging for masks, equipment and more tests. And I have a floor full of staff who are working day and night to hunt down the supplies that our health care workers and our first responders need and the supplies we know they are going to need.
Apparently the only way to get the president of the United States to pay attention is to go on national television and make noise about it, which I wont stop doing until we get what we need.

Each state is also unique in its own way as well. So it stands to reason that the governor should heed his own advice.
Governor, if youre going on national TV again, stop patting yourself on the back and picking fights with the president. Stick to indisputable facts, which are mostly on your side. Presenting cold hard facts is more than enough to make your case that the White House continues to fall far short.
Ive called you Gov. Chillax in the past. When you appear boastful and rattled these days, that rattles me. And if Im rattled, imagine the message youre sending to everyone else.
Pritzker YOU wasted MONTHS!
you could have had factories in YOUR state create 10’s of millions of masks the the months since President Trump closed travel with China!
If you need President Trump to run your state, maybe you should step down and let him run it.
Also Democrats: "Why won't Trump act as a dictator to stop this pandemic?"
Too bad Gov. Pritzker (D) didn't have those people prepare ahead of time. Doesn't he have anyone watching the news? He should have had an inventory of PPE for emergency use at every hospital in the state years ago. But even if he missed that opportunity he could have ordered supplies months ago.
His lack of preparation, and then complaining that he isn't getting bailed out by the government is the mindset of every liberal Democrat. There is a reason the rest of us prepare for unlikely but possible events.
These governors/mayors are angry this is interrupting their crime syndicates and requiring them to actually do their jobs.
Don’t forget...his sis, Penny Ptrizker, was Commerce Secy , on Obammie’s admin....after buying her way in.
Problem is Illinoiss fault. They gave us Obama. W had built up a huge emergency mask supply. Obama let HIS H1N1 swine flu epidemic get out of hand through neglect. Then ran thru much of Ws mask stash. Never bothered to replace what hed used. Blew 7 more years opportunity in office.
Whenever you come across someone criticizing Trump, you can skip over all the blather, because all theyre really saying is, I didnt vote for Trump!
And in the end, who among us cares who anyone else voted for?
No one cares. SFTU.
And the way to do that is to contract for the service or offer to buy the goods at the going rate. I’m astonished at the number of people demanding that Trump “order” businesses to make needed supplies and equipment. While he has (AFAIK) those emergency powers; directing what corporations produce is a hallmark of NAZI and Fascist economies. Leftists can’t fathom how much better the invisible hand works, compared to the iron fist behind a command and control economy.
WHY THE HELL is it up to the POTUS ti have masks, etc. in CITIES and STATES???? ARen’t the LOCALS in CHARGE??
during world war 2 nearly ALL factories were told by the government what to make
That’s true, and I was aware of that wartime measure. It’s still central planning, and would not work long term. There have never been, and likely never will be centrally-planned, command and control economies, which are successful beyond the medium term. A method that preserves at least a modicum of free-enterprise is contracting for supplies and equipment. Companies don’t have to be commanded to produce (say) a new stealth fighter or submarine — several of them will enter into a cut-throat bidding process for the right to make those products, and earn a profit.
Profit-seeking companies are the best hope for helpful solutions. Companies, such as GM, Ford & Tesla see the chance to earn prestige and invaluable public acclaim by switching production to ventilators and they have voluntarily begun to do so. I think that approach is far more likely to produce desirable results, than forcing them to do things. When someone is forced to do something, they tend to do the bare minimum to avoid punishment. When they volunteer, they’re more motivated.
