"In the current context of the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic on French territory and worldwide. In accordance with the Hippocratic Oath that we have taken, we obey our duty as doctors. We provide our patients with the best care for the diagnosis and treatment of a disease. We respect the rules of the art and the most recently acquired data of medical science.
We have decided :
We believe that it is not ethical that this treatment should not be systematically included in therapeutic trials concerning the treatment of Covid-19 infection in France."
- For all febrile (fever) patients who come to consult us, to carry out tests for the diagnosis of infection with Covid 19;
- For all infected patients, many of whom are not very symptomatic, have lung lesions on CT scan, we propose, at the earliest stage of the disease, as soon as the diagnosis is made:
- a treatment with the combination of hydroxychloroquine (200 mg x 3 per day for 10 days) + Azithromycin (500 mg on the 1st day then 250 mg per day for 5 more days); as part of the precautions for use of this combination (including an electrocardiogram on Day0 and Day2). In cases of severe pneumonia, a broad-spectrum antibiotic is also used.

PQL? PLQ? what do they mean?
Good catch. Yes, why not RIGHT NOW?? What in the world?
Jeez. Put a greasy trenchcoat on him and he'd look homeless.
Im telling you that it is being used. Many protocols at many centers.
COVID-19 Clinical Trial Launches at University of Minnesota
by Kelly Glynn, Media Relations Coordinator March 17, 2020
If you think you may be eligible to participate in the trial, please email covid19@umn.edu for further instructions.
The trial is being limited to only high-risk exposures, so that the trial may be completed as quickly as possible with the fewest number of volunteers. At this time, people who may have been exposed to coronavirus in the community are currently not eligible to participate.
Thank God POTUS stands up to the authorities (CDC & FDA) and is pushing for Americans to have these treatments used. He doesn’t take no for an answer.
Uhhh no ah, touch-a, de face.
oh, bullshit ...
ive listened to every word Dr. Fauci has said on every press conference and he in no way disapproved trying this treatment, he has said only that he wishes to collect systematic data AS THESE TREATMENTS ARE APPLIED ... period ...
*************************************************
Well perhaps you dont understand the distinction between Dr. Faucis position (youve correctly stated it) and the position of Professeur Didier Raoult and his group of physicians. They are NOW incorporating the 6-day PLQ & AZT drug course into their STANDARD OF CARE for treatment of COVID-19 disease. Dr. Fauci lacks their boldness and is in taking our sweet time mode.
The announcement does not make this an official protocol for all of France, just for this institute/hospital. Or am I missing something?
Cuomo proves that when life and death are on the line, he’s going to choose a hopeful alternative rather than a “come back to me when you have proof”. Why this is so hard to understand is beyond me.
BTTT
Regardless, it's all moot now for both sides. NYC is going to provide the sample sizes to know with pretty good precision how effective this treatment is. Even if it is 85% effective as opposed to 100% it will be a game changer,.
Funded by the Investments for the Future program, the Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire Méditerranée Infection is a research, care, training and development center specializing in the fight against infectious diseases. It is chaired by Professor Didier Raoult, the most cited microbiologist in Europe.
The founding members of the IHU Méditerranée Infection are: Aix-Marseille University, the Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Marseille, the Research Institute for Development, the Army Health Service, the Mérieux Foundation, the French Blood Establishment and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research.
The IHU Méditerranée Infection was built thanks to financial support from the Investments for the Future Program piloted by the General Secretariat for Investment, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the National Research Agency, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region, the Bouches du Rhône Department, the Aix-Marseille Provence Metropolis and the City of Marseille.
Sorry, should be in quotes.
Just don't put it in the toilet paper aisle.
Well, it’s only a matter of time until it’s standard protocol in all of France. Thanks for the info.
I don’t know how large their sample was, but it looks like the two drugs together have about a 95-97% cure rate.
I disagree. Review his presentation on [Youtube] and the accompanying [PDF].
"BTW believe data out of China at your own risk."
If you mean in total cases to deaths, fine. If you mean per Prof. Raoult?
"Raoult is ranked #1 expert in the world for infectious disease." - wikipedia
Raoult ran the trial in France with a French cohort (that included repatriates).
Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin as a treatment of COVID‐19: results of an open‐label non‐randomized clinical trial. [PDF]Patients and methods
French Confirmed COVID-19 patients were included in a single arm protocol from early March to March 16th, to receive 600mg of hydroxychloroquine daily and their viral load in nasopharyngeal swabs was tested daily in a hospital setting.
Depending on their clinical presentation, azithromycin was added to the treatment. Untreated patients from another center and cases refusing the protocol were included as negative controls. Presence and absence of virus at Day6-post inclusion was considered the end point.
Results
Six patients were asymptomatic, 22 had upper respiratory tract infection symptoms and eight had lower respiratory tract infection symptoms. Twenty cases were treated in this study and showed a significant reduction of the viral carriage at D6-post inclusion compared to controls, and much lower average carrying duration than reported of untreated patients in the literature.
Azithromycin added to hydroxychloroquine was significantly more efficient for virus elimination.
Conclusion
Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin.
No one, not Prof. Raoult, nor I, nor President Trump, is touting PQL+AZT as a cure, it's a treatment.
A treatment to greatly reduce the viral load of COVID-19 in affected patients.
A treatment that was so successful that 5 days after publishing the preliminary positive results (see above), the French Health Ministry, CNRS, CPP (Comités de Protection des Personnes), and Raoult's own INSERM group opened the trial.
I hope I don't have to tell you how important that is, when you open a trial that isn't even a month old. Impressive enough that 10,000 PQL+AZT units will begin to be distributed to COVID-19 patients in New York this Tuesday.
You'd hit it for a week's worth of PQL+AZT if you get it...
