Commentators have noted the dishonest reporting of statistics to buttress the false claim that deaths from the coronavirus (hereafter, COVID-19) are far in excess of mortality from the common flu when in fact the opposite is likely the case. Others have noted that, like the common flu, the most vulnerable cohort from COVID-19 is the elderly. For example the average age of those who have died of COVID-19 in Italy is 81.
One thing is clear. The panic and hysteria are at levels never before seen or witnessed by most people alive today. It seems like a time of war. My dad fought in World War II. However, I was not born until well after it. I'm a retired prosecutor. In my retirement, for the past ten years, I've run an event/wedding photography business. For me, it's a way of reliving stress. I enjoy photography, and I particularly enjoy connecting with the young couples whom I photograph on their special day.
One such couple, Nathan and MacKenzie, had hired me to photograph a gathering of 130 of their family and friends for their wedding and reception later this month. No, Nathan and McKenzie are not in their eighties. Nathan is 25, MacKenzie 21. I was looking forward not only to witnessing the love and joy inevitably expressed by the married couple and their family and friends, but also to photographing again at this particular venue, a ten-acre oasis that I had often worked at in the past. I was indeed shocked when Nathan called me on March 17 to report that the wedding and reception, for which all the invitations had gone out and for which they had planned for over a year, were being canceled on the "Order of the Health Officer of the County of Riverside."

Some people seem to need their humdrum lives enhanced by being scared of every thing that comes around. Alar, radon, crime, lysteria in foods, this and that virus. They thrive on being afraid.
Sadly my wife’s family is that way. SIL is in an absolute panic over this coronavirus even though she is nowhere near any cases of it.
Going through red lights, driving at 150 on the highways, pulling out in front of people. It's more and more noticeable.
I’ve noticed that too. I hate to say it, but it seems to be a female thing.
In some cases, I think the person goes into hysteria or panic mode because they believe that by doing so they are controlling the outcome/situation.
Same thing here in Atlanta. Insane driving, worse than ever, through very light traffic.
It is, generally. The guys axting that way are acting like women.
College-age intern in office building tested positive. Now in medically-induced coma. That got everybody’s attention right quick.
Just as a brief example of unanticipated impact, my wife has Huntington’s Disease and supervised exercise, yoga and reiki are key in helping to arrest the pace of her decline. Because of the hysteria locally, all health clubs are closed (even those which found ways to accommodate the 10 person limit). As a consequence, she is unable to work with her trainer for “who knows how long”. In the context of society, maybe it is a small thing. To me, it is a big deal. To her, if prolonged it could shorten her remaining life considerably. Not shopping for sympathy, but wanted to provide one example of the victims of hysteria.
I clearly don’t want her to die, but death from Coronavirus would be dramatically kinder to her than what she has ahead.
You think ?
Although I have an OCD preppier friend here in Nashville whos worried silly and hes a male....ex army medic
Its affected my business greatly
I have two pieces of commercial property under contract and the buyers have pulled out temporarily they say.
Both are fast food and both have been ordered to take out only which has hurt them too
And besides this never ending rain now for three weeks in Nashville and the tornado hitting two of my sites biz is slow anyhow
Bleak is an understatement
There will no relief for small business ....they just talk it.
Poor will get some cash
Big business will be subsidized by our tax dollars just like TARP and to a degree Stimulus...although 80% of stimulus went to bolster govt and union unfounded liabilities
Its a damn joke the corruption in this republic
The panic and hysteria are at levels never before seen or witnessed by most people alive today.

Polio was kind of a big deal in the late 40s and early 50s, when I was a kid.
He nailed it.
I guess it’s the adrenaline rush.
When a woman behaves like a woman it's a natural thing. But when a man behaves like a woman, it's a disgusting sight to see.
Like the first casualty on D-Day. Eisenhower and Montgomery knew they'd have to get those troops back to England right away.
I dont like women trying to be men either. Not just the butch lesbians either.
I had to work with one of them, and it was no picnic. Of course she was all man when it came to posturing, but when the going got tough it was all tears and emotion.
