The Party can’t afford to admit his many errors and spends a great deal of effort covering up his betrayals and incompetence. Mao aside from being a Communist despot a) abandoned his country in the face of a devastating Japanese invasion only half-heartedly fighting Japan, while allowing Japanese to slaughter Chinese civilians. He did so to weaken his rivals and gain power after the war. 2) Mao killed up to 40,000,000 people through sheer economic incompetence during “The Great Leap Forward” in the late 1950’s. He wasn’t even trying to kill them, they were Just collateral damage from idiotic policies. and. 3) the chaos and destruction of the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s.
Xi merely is waging war on all religions in China, imprisioning Muslims, persecuting Christians, and coopting the Catholic Church in China, and as icing on the cake, trying to re-write Scripture to suit the Party. Add to that the incompetent initial response to the Wuhan virus that has now threatened the global economy.
