Within a very short time, this has produced a much more noticeable impact on the average American.

I agree that the Pandemic scare has had a much greater impact but it has done it with far fewer participants.

The Global Warming scam works on (and must) on a different time frame than the pandemic. The perceived threat is much more immediate. The need for action is now to prevent widespread death.

What is surprising is that the politicians have gone along with this. The Swine flu and Bird Flu threats did not provoke this kind of reaction. All of the current leaders, with the exception of Trump were in government at the time of those outbreaks.

My first thought is that GOPe and Dims are conspiring to stop a Trump second term. The economy be damned Trump must be stopped.

I understand the suspicion that this was done to tank Trump, though I don’t know if this will stick to him.

There is something about the reaction (especially mass school closings and the cancellation of professional sports) that really has peoples’ attention. I believe there is real concern about short-term overwhelming of the intensive care facilities required for treatment (ventilators and such); that seems to have been an issue in southern Europe. If they spread the infections out over a longer period, they may be fine (where the rest of the population has had it, survived, and developed immunity).
