At some point the general public may have to remind elites that important decisions that could ruin economic security for millions cannot just be made in a government office without consequences or input from elected representatives.

I tend to trust President Trump more than many other elected leaders, but whoever is in charge faces some difficult choices, at some point a crippled economy leads to more trouble than a certain death rate from a pandemic. The question is where to place the balance and what action to take to do the least total harm.

An impoverished population saved from the effects of this disease (by and large) may start to wonder how bad it could have been if it had been “business as usual” around the world. On the other hand, if it goes away quickly and people can resume a normal life within weeks, this will seem like the right call.

I am not full of trust in this day and age, having heard more than I really wanted to hear about fictitious climate emergencies and other globalist tall tales — and we need to remember that it is by and large the same elites telling us that this is a huge, terrible problem. Is it really?

Millions of people losing their jobs will be a huge, terrible problem.

I fully agree with your post. These measures are touching off an international economic crisis. I even wonder if this is intended - to give an excuse to reorganise banks and debts, saying it is because of the epidemic, whereas it is systematic problems.
