Now that the number of new people infected with the coronavirus in China is slowing, the country's Communist Party is ratcheting up threats against the West, with a particularly nasty warning about access to life-saving drugs aimed at the United States.
In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that's largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more. The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into "the mighty sea of coronavirus."

Pharmaceuticals are heavily regulated. If the Feds do not sign off on a plant's authorization to manufacture prescription drugs for the US market, then it does not happen.
It would have been impossible to ramp up medical supplies here. They have been farmed out to China. Get it? How fast could we have removed all the regs, went through Congress, built facilities and had this stuff stockpiled for this crisis. Politics have created this mess.

He’s already acted to stockpile 400 critical to life drugs for the nation. The tech still exists to ramp up production here; after all, the researched drugs are made here so if they can make the drugs as they research them, they can ramp up production for the commonly needed as well.
So go panic and die or vote Biden if that is what you are hinting at!

Hey, it’s worth a shot since everything under the sun is blamed on Trump.
Just look at what Trump has done, most of it was just getting rid of regulations so things could work.
Passing ‘right to work’ laws and jobs have a chance of coming back. It isn’t rocket surgery.
Remove stupid regulations and America is energy independent...boom! Just like that.
Betcha the ChiComs won’t cut off the flow of ILLEGAL drugs...
It’s not just regulations, though that’s an excellent start. It’s a morass of tax policy, regulation, liability law, insurance issues, labor.
It’s a Gordian knot designed to ensure the least competition for crony capitalists.

It was reported late last year that the Chinese Communist Party was rewriting the Bible to make it CCP friendly, I was reminded of this verse:
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: . .”

Heck, it’s not the public. Pick up a bottle of aspirin and try to figure out what country produced it. You can’t. Congress passed a law allowing drug companies to hide it...because otherwise people would start to worry about our dependence on China.
Politicians and especially the IDIOTS at CDC are supposed to be better informed - and they sold us out, virtually all of them.
What I’d LIKE to hear in this area is what our government is doing to bring back production (drugs and other critical items), and I don’t want it to be tax credits or some crap like that, it needs to be real measures. And that starts with regulatory relief - at ALL levels - if some local government tries to block a new drug plant, then the feds need to step on them like a gnat. If some agency wants an ‘Environmental Impact Report’ that takes 9 months to complete, do it later. If a drug company says they can get a plant operating 6 months earlier, but their air pollution will be 25% above what’s required, worry about the 25% later. And get the damn labor unions out of the way - we don’t have time to indulge their hatred of this country.
Will that happen - doesn’t seem that way. Seems like all we see is added ‘liquidity’, as if ‘liquidity’ provides antibiotics. But there’s still nearly 8 months to the election, and taking strong measures like these will throw the Dems into a tailspin - but can our leaders figure this out, in time?
Biden says that China is not competition to us.
Trump will wean us off of Chinese suppliers.
In debates with with Biden, Trump will detail this while contrasting Biden’s having brought us to this point, influence peddling with his family (not just Hunter).

Interesting point you make on drug labelling. We can’t buy a peach or a $10 t-shirt without knowing its origin, but are kept in the dark on critical drugs. I would hope, without knowing, that there is enough testing to ensure that imported drugs are safe and in the correct does. But even if that’s the case, I would prefer to know the country of origin and make an informed decision.
