This is silly. My father in law is a resident at Life Care and I’ve seen first hand the kind of events being criticized. We’re talking about normal nursing home rec-center kind of stuff that all good nursing homes do to provide quality of life experiences for the residents. As far as nursing homes go, Life Care a really nice one. It’s ready to find stuff to criticise with the benefit of hindsight.
You're right and these types of activities are important for seniors in these homes to retain dignity and have fun.
My concern with the Kirkland Life Care is that the fire/rescue was told that Life Care were under self-quarantine and when they went there for a call, they were in their PPE, and the Life Care staff were not - in fact a nurse did not even know they were supposed to be!
Evan Hurley, a 9-year veteran with Kirkland Fire and a union trustee, said a firefighter relayed this story: On Friday, the firefighter arrived at Life Care, walked in, and saw a charge nurse in just her scrubs. No mask, no protective gown.
Hey, you guys are supposed to be in self-quarantine, the firefighter said.
No, were not, the nurse replied.
Well, our chain of command talked to your management, and they say something different.
The nurse insisted; she hadnt heard anything, she said.
The firefighter looked down the hall and saw two caregivers in scrubs -- no mask or gown.
What the hell? the firefighter thought. Who is not telling you that you have two suspected coronavirus cases?
