Which is what people do not understand - and I won't feel sorry for them. The herd is already stampeding and it doesn't matter if the one who started the stampede saw a lion or his shadow.
And once the herd begins the runs on the stores (and they already are on the west coast - look on Twitter #panicbuying) - the supply chain won't be able to catch the demand. If you haven't got food for you and yours by now - you are quickly running out of time...and it won't matter of COVID-19 "kills less people than the flu."
Wal-Mart is incredibly stupid if they have not diversified their supply chain over the last two years. When I worked for the Global Sourcing department of Wally in Bentonville in 2003-2005 I kept asking what would happen if one missile flew over the Taiwan Strait.
Im not sure they appreciated me asking that.
