Actress Patricia Arquette is urging people to participate in a one-day economic shutdown that is designed to inflict damage on the U.S. economy and hurt President Donald Trump.
Arquette posted a message to Instagram on Thursday promoting the March 2 event, telling her followers that they should refrain from making any purchases presumably, including food and medication for a 24-hour period as part of the #resist movement against the Trump administration.

Another author/columnist/performer who left us far too early, 1994 at age 48, and is still greatly missed. He even made humor out of his health problems and helped us laugh. *Personally*, I'd say that Jeff Foxworthy, whom I do like a lot, is another Lewis Grizzard, but that dates me as who I am, another old fart living with one foot in history!
Thanks - I didn’t know he had died and what a surprise. To be reading several of his books and then learning he’s no longer among us. Certainly a very great talent.
I looked at your profile and you knew Pat Conroy??? Now that is impressive also. One of my very favorite authors. I knew he had passed away and it was heartbreaking. Loved that man.
What year were you in Beaufort high school? I have “friends” in Beaufort (graduated many years ago but went to school with Pat) who told me about his books and who I no longer speak to because they thought obozo was the greatest thing since sliced bread. That’s only because the husband was an Air Traffic Controller in Lancaster, CA and didn’t believe RR when he said he would fire the bunch of them if they went out on strike! Guess he learned that Republicans keep their word and doesn’t care that demoncrats don’t!! Their loss!!
They’ve moved back to Beaufort after retiring - moved from CA to New Orleans - until Hurricane Katrina - and then moved back to Beaufort, another part of the country that experiences massive hurricanes? Common sense doesn’t grow on trees!
I had Pat Conroy as a teacher for a semester of my senior year in 1968/9. Just before his time teaching on Daufuski Island (’The Water is Wide’). His parents and mine were nodding acquaintances, both being military retirees.
As for Beaufort & hurricanes, it is far more of a miss than a hit, probably by its location. By my research, Beaufort County has only been hit by 6 hurricanes since 1960 although it has been threatened far more times than that. Being tucked into that notch and with the Gulf Stream moving well offshore, there seems to be some comfort in that location. Now watch 2020 make a liar here!

Amazing! The friends I mentioned, we met in the early ‘90’s in CA where we lived until retirement...The last time I talked to the gal I worked with there, was after one of the storms when obozo was president and there was flooding in Beaufort and it was all Nikki Haley’s fault. Of course it was...They probably helped to put Biden on the map yesterday or whenever. UGH!
