I forwarded this story over to a retired Air Force Lt. Gen. and fighter pilot FB friend of mine. He was a USAFA '70 grad and retired in 2006.

He sent me back the following:

If he is a 70 USAFA grad, he is probably the same age as me, but I retired in 88. I did 20, and that was it for me.
