Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) lashed out at Mick Mulvaney on Friday after the acting White House chief of staff accused the media of reporting on the coronavirus as part of an effort to "take down the president.
Schumer argued in a statement that the Trump administration had "learned nothing from the Chinese governments failure to quickly and transparently combat the coronavirus."
"For Mick Mulvaney to suggest that Americans turn off their TVs and bury their heads in the sand when theyre worried about a global health pandemic is Orwellian, counterproductive, dangerous, and would be repeating Chinas mistake," Schumer added.
Mulvaney, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, accused the media of peddling a false narrative about the administration scrambling to contain the virus and said the press was ignoring the coronavirus until now because publications were too preoccupied with Trumps impeachment before that.

I was watching. Hopefully we are at or near the bottom.
Egads, my grammar...”ended up down”...yuck...it eventually ended down today around 357 points.
He kindly invited the dems to do the same but in their derangement they are compelled against all reason to take the opposite approach and promote panic.
Hopefully the market is waking from the dem promoted knee jerk reaction of full on panic and fear.
I hope Trump sees this and uses it.
Sorry to hear that. Respectfully consider that the MSM is ginning this up to try and and hurt Trump. In fact, it was Rod Rodentstein's sister at the CDC that spooked the market with her purposeful gloomy accessment of doom for the US. Trump's approach is not to throw in the towel and give up.
Citize Arrest that cretin before real harm is done.
I think what spooked the markets was the numbers of new infection in non-china countries. Last Friday, it was becoming clear that S. Korea and Japan were losing control of it.
The numbers over the weekend reinforced that and by Monday morning the market was primed to fall.
I don’t remember her entire speech, but her’s seemed balanced to me. It’s the people who say it’s inevitable so there is no point screening that worry me. And at the other end of the spectrum, the people like Mulraney who say don’t worry about it, it’s a cold, it’s no worse than the flu are just as bad.
Both lead to inaction and potentially destroy the chance we have to nearly avoid it altogether.
The Dems sure are sensitive over this subject
These idiot democrats complain that Trumps isn’t doing enough. It’s too late.
These are the people who want open borders. How do we stand on that issue now?
