When I was was a very little child, my grandmother told me all about that radio show, which was taken from a book ( she had the book and now, I have it ) and she and my grandfather would sometimes use the Baron's tagline:"VAS CHEW DER CHARLIE?". LOL

Yes I remember it was a radio show in the 30’s I think. I didn’t know it was taken from a book. The character always had these outrageous stories of things he had done which in his life. And yes, it sounds like Joe!
