Bob Iger will step down as Disney CEO and assume the role of executive chairman, Disney announced on Tuesday.
Bob Chapek, who most recently served as chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, will assume the role of CEO, effective immediately, Disney announced.
Shares of Disney fell about 2.5% after hours.
Iger will remain executive chairman of Disney through the end of 2021, according to the company. He has been instrumental in making Disney a media powerhouse with key acquisitions and content plays. He launched Disney+, immediately making Disney a popular streaming service provider. Disney said the service had 26.5 million paying subscribers during the first quarter of 2020 after launching in November.

Time to row your boat through all that collected cash.
ok thanks for the info
Has he been indicted on sex charges?
Well, at least Iger is stepping down, though I suspect he stepped down like Michael Eisner did. Too bad Bob Chapek isn’t much better, since he’s been running Disney Parks into the ground before being replaced.
Not likely. Let’s not forget that Bob Chapek was the same guy who ran Disney Parks into the ground, including the outright bombing of Galaxy’s Edge among other things. I’m doubtful he’s going to be much better for the company as CEO.
Keep her away from The Mando. Get her away from Obi-Wan. All I care about.
Maybe the Me-again Markle hire was a mistake?
Instrumental in pushing the gay agenda on our children
Iger would be plausible as a VP nominee, perhaps for Bloomberg.
Too bad they can’t fire that f$$$ing Michael Eisner again. Douche bag
If I must be honest, Eisner wasn’t nearly as bad as Iger. As bad as Eisner was, at least he was smart enough to try and keep his dang left-wing politics to himself when making movies and attractions rather than trying to force Disney to push far left politics at the expense of any profits. Plus, at least Eisner respected Walt Disney enough not even DARE try to gut the Wonderful World of Disney segments.
I’d personally prefer one of the Disney family regain control of the company again, but if I had to choose between Iger or Eisner, I’ll have to go with Eisner.
Let’s see if they survive Coronavirus.
