Oh, and the 300 million is just for health care workers.

Would need hundreds of millions more monthly for regular Americans to wear to work each day.

You are correct. The CDC does not expect healthy people to wear masks, They do recommend those who have have symptoms wear masks and take additional precautions as they plan for and seek medical attention. This is similar to how we typically manage the flu when it hits our house (my wife and daughter are teachers).

During the briefing today the CDC doctors were encouraged that they were not seeing lots of new cases. They are monitoring this carefully.

What encourages me is how quickly the scientists sequenced the virus, understanding the protein structure. I have met some of those involved at conferences and they are very good at what they do. This work is what informed the development plan that the CDC announced today.
