If you’re retired, I’d say prepare your pantry & freezer so that you only have to go out & mingle with the public when really necessary. And wash your hands often, especially after returning to your home from a public place.

BINGO - retired couple here..I'm thinking the exact same thing. Kinda sucks, as I really don't want to have to totally hunker down..but probably good advice also..

Anyone over 50 that gets this is in a world of hurt, IMHO. And God help you if you have any existing health conditions, especially of the respiratory variety.

Yes, older people really have to take more precautions and limit exposure

Walmart, Safewway Raley’s and Nob Hill have free pick up and delivery for $5.

After pickup/delivery:

This is where your face mask will work, put mask and goggles on and your good rubber gloves.

Alcohol/Clorox spray the outsides of the non perishables, and leave the non perishables in direct sunshine for about and hour.

Alcohol/Clorox spray the perishables in their plastic bags and leave in sunlight for about 30 minutes/side, wipe off bags put into a freezer for about a half hour to kill any virus/germs on the plastic bag. If possible cook as suggested below.

Wrapped meats, fish and poultry leave in sunlight 15 minutes per side then wipe with a Clorox wipe and put into freezer with the wrap in tack. When ready to cook, remove from freezer and wipe outside package with a Clorox wipe leave in sunlight (30 minutes per side). Remove from wrapper with surgical gloves on and prepare to cook and serve.

If you still have a working gas or electric oven, use cookie sheet pans. Put parchment paper on the inside of the cookie sheet, place your fish/meat/whatever on the parchment paper and the veggies around the fish/meat/whatever, spray with olive oil and season with salt/pepper. Place in 425-450 degree oven and cook for 25-45 minutes until done and browned.

Use tongs /spatula to put on paper plates. Serve hot/warm.

If done right, just throw away parchment paper.

Or cook on a charcoal cooker outside (no parchment Paper) just put everything on the hot grill-cook and kill any virus.
