Then come to east TN and drive the Dragon along the western edge of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. It’s about eleven miles of narrow two lane road with well over 100 tight curves and totally loved by motorcycle riders all over the eastern US. Its narrowness and tight curves make CA 1 through the Big Sur look wide and straight. I know. I live in E TN about 60 miles from the Dragon and have driven it on a motorcycle and in a SUV. I also have relatives in CA and have driven CA 1.
Ill consider it for nomination to the bucket list!
I’ve driven Tail of the Dragon (US 129S) twice. In a minvan. ;-)
No drop offs to quite challenge some of the roads out west, but, it’s one windy and wearing (to the driver) road.

One other factor with Tail of the Dragon is that it gets more traffic than lesser known roads. Some bikers do not like it for that reason - understandable!
