The judge always sentences, not the DOJ. The DOJ recommends a sentence, which Barr thought was excessive in this case. That’s what makes this brouhaha over the sentencing so ridiculous. Trump (or Barr) was not interfering with the administration of justice as the sentencing was not in their hands.
I am not going to opine on the case regarding Stone.
Barr’s DOJ prosecuted Stone. The FBI (which is under DOJ) conducted the midnight SWAT raid of Stone and his wife. Barr’s DOJ is still persecuting General Flynn. Barr whined to liberal reporters that the President was calling them out. Barr refused to prosecute Comey, twice, and Andrew McCabe.
