The way China counts confirmed cases of the virus changed for the second time in a week, muddling the data, confusing scientists and resulting in a drop in new infections.
RIGHT NOW : Japan said two passengers who had been aboard a quarantined cruise ship have died.
Heres what you need to know:
China again alters the methodology for counting coronavirus cases, as death toll rises to 2,118.
Japan records deaths of two passengers who had been aboard a quarantined cruise ship.
The first coronavirus patient in the United States has recovered.
Chinese banks are lowering interest rates to soften the economic blow of the coronavirus.
U.S.-China relations were already fraying. The outbreak has damaged them further.
China again alters the methodology for counting coronavirus cases, as death toll rises to 2,118.
For the second time in a week, China on Thursday changed its criteria for confirming coronavirus cases, throwing into confusion the methodology that the country at the heart of the outbreak uses to track transmissions and resulting in a dramatic decrease in new infections.
The new criteria exclude patients from Hubei Province, the hardest-hit area of the outbreak, who are diagnosed using clinical methods, including CT scans and an assessment of symptoms. Instead, patients there would be counted as having contracted the virus only when confirmed by a specialized nucleic acid test. Using the new criteria, officials in the province on Thursday recorded 349 new cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total national figures to 74,576. New deaths rose by 114 on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 2,118.
In its sixth iteration of a diagnosis regime, the government said it would differentiate between suspected and confirmed cases from now on. Cases would only be considered confirmed after genetic testing.

Suppose Wuhan was the field test of a live attenuated COVID-19 vaccination?
Live attenuated viral vaccines can cause vaccinated persons to shed vaccine strain virus for a period of days, weeks or months, potentially infecting others and leading to symptoms of the very disease the vaccine was intended to prevent (!)
“Instead, patients there would be counted as having contracted the virus only when confirmed by a specialized nucleic acid test.”
Some of these tests are excellent with accuracies in the high 90%.
Good doctor/rn/lab tech diagnosis plays a big role. The problem is often the skill levels re accuracy in diagnosis will often vary all over the spectrum from fair to excellent.
How is Wuhan different from every other province in China, and every other place on earth?...
Maybe soils, bogs, plants past and present, critters that are unique to that area including microscopic ones.
That just starts the list.
I thought about a vaccine trial, but not by injection, spread airborne by drones.
Don't forget that it was months after the fact that we found out that the Ebola virus
continued to live in male testes, six months after they had survived exposure to the virus.
The fact that Wuhan is the home to two bio-engineering and research centers
should not be overlooked.
The only two research centers known to exist in China.
Now can you imagine the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19 ) if it released
to a captive population in camps such as the Uyghur population ?
The virus is attributed to a scaly mammal delicacy that is prized by the Chinese.
However, the virus proximity source to the two viral research centers
should not be overlooked.
Thanks for the ping. Fascinating discussion. Thanks to every poster. Health/life BUMP!
Good point. A communist regime would feel no need for informed consent.
Yup. That would go a long ways to taking care of the problem...
There was a giant pish and nearly all the kids got the live vaccine. Not my kid.
Well, about 3-5 days later, she was sick as a dog for about ten days. I 100% know she caught it from the vaccines.
push not pish
