I used to also think ill of Neil Young, until I heard the story of his son and what Neil has done for him , as well as what he has done to raise money to help others afflicted with cerebral palsy. Any man with a heart that big, cannot be condemned as a total loser, as some here have. Fine, he is a liberal Democrat, he has that right. But he does have real family values and that is important.

Young pursued actress Carrie Snodgress after seeing her in the movie "Diary of a Mad Housewife." At that time, she was the biggest actress in Hollywood and had the world ahead of her. Neil wanted to marry her and insisted that she give up acting. She complied. They then had a son who was horribly disabled by Cerebral Palsey. (As an aside, Neil had two sons with two different women and both had Cerebral Palsey, so he was the source of the disability.) He then dumped Snodgress, by which time her career was in tatters, and to add insult to injury wouldn't pay her sufficient child support to take care of their disabled son.
