Possibly because, in retaliation, the rats could expose nasty stuff about the repubs.
The bad stuff runs deep on both sides.
Yet the Democrats have zero reservations about prosecuting Republicans, even on ridiculous, trumped-up charges. No fear of retaliation against them at all.
Remember the Voting Right Act restrictions slapped on some of the Republican controlled states, that meant every change they made to their election laws had to be *approved* by the Justice Department? No Republican ever pointed out that for 20-30 years there had been no record of election abuse by the state, and it was only when the Supreme Court intervened to say that this control was terribly unfair, and thus it was over, did it end?

Republicans have long been pristine against their own members who commit infractions, real or imagined, but they let the Democrats behave like animals. That needs to end.
