I’d generally agree with you, except that I don’t think the issue should ever be brought up in public WHICH IT WILL, just because media and opposing liberals will be dying to discuss it.
My bisect problem w homos is that any show of affection or discussion of this behavior is inappropriate for children, and sorry, but fully public means children are going to be aware. And that brings up the whole issue of sexuality in general, which they should not be aware of until they are at least pre-teens.
When I enlisted in the USAF, I was cautioned not to show PDA (public displays of affection) with my beautiful wife in any situation where I could be recognized as a member of the US military. That is also the way I was brought up.
