Not just NASCAR fans.

For me, it was an “acquired” interest. I never had any interest in NASCAR, couldn’t stand it on TV .... and then a friend invited me to a race. Oh boy .... those engines started up, the stands were rattling/shaking, & I was thinking ‘how in the heck are all those cars going to make it around this small track?’ Well, they did ... and even though we froze our patooties off (February race, a long time ago - now it’s in September), it was a fantastic experience. I went to a second race (with my own ear plugs) & loved it.
The result of all of this is that when I watch on TV, I KNOW what it’s like to be there in person & it carries over to the race. I now like watching on TV because #1 - no 30+ minute lines at the ladies room #2 you get replays when something happens #3 you get to see all the pit crew action (which I enjoy almost as much as the race) #4 you get great announcers (some being former drivers, etc.) and I enjoy their perspective & knowledge.
Anyway, I have been a NASCAR fan for a good while - I LOVE it that Trump will be there & I do hope he gets to make a lap ... the roar from the crowd should be incredible!!
I think this is terrific, and a sign that NASCAR may have pulled its head out of its derriere after going woke for a while.
Just had a quick yak with someone who’s worked the Daytona 500. He thinks if they do the lap, it’ll have to be on the apron because of the banking. Still really cool even if so.
If you think NASCAR cars are loud go to an NHRA national meet and listen/feel the top fuel cars or funny cars. You ain’t heard or felt loud until you do.
