I am a Retired Army Officer and if in my day an Officer did what Vindman did, he would have been summarily Courts Martialed and tossed out of the Army.
He’s (and all other military) are “detailed” to the NSC from their parent service—just like someone from the Department of Whatever is “detailed” to the White House. When the need for their being there no longer exists, they are “detailed” back to their original office or department, with a personnel report or review of what they did while there (good or poor).
Now...the Presidential Service Badge (PSB), which is typically awarded after one year’s honorable service to members of the military in these positions, could be rescinded and revoked by President Trump.
