A very bureaucratic solution, he’s there a year or so. He gets his bird. Goes to the Pentagon or some big clocking staring bureaucracy. Dos his two more years counting paperclips and is quietly forced into retirement via an “up or out” ruling. He then writes a “tell-all” book no one reads.

We’ll see what happens when that proposed list for Colonel hits the President’s desk in his second term, when he doesn’t have to worry about reelection.

There are a finite number of slots for Generals. Therefore, 99% of Colonels are at the end of their careers. He will be ending his time like all the others with no ramifications.
