Betty Zane, more of an "eastern" than a western, set in 1772 in what is now Wheeling, WV, and involving some of Grey's ancestors, along with some other historical figures of the time. I have been reading a lot of western fiction the past couple of years. I was able to buy a lot of Grey's works for 99 cents on Kindle. I started with Riders of the Purple Sage and then its sequel, The Desert Crucible. I have also taken an interest in the pioneer history west of the Appalachians, and I wanted to see what he did with historical fiction in that area. Betty Zane is very good. Next up, its sequel, The Spirit of the Border
