But he probably was an infantry second lt. and then went on to some logistics or some such. So he probably is legit because everyone has a DD214 as I recall, they just dont give it you until it is all zeroes and ...nothing follows. So a FOIA would pretty quickly answer the question.
No, he was an infantry captain, in the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry. Interestingly, he never commanded an infantry company during his Iraq tour. He became a company commander after the battalion returned to Ft. Lewis at the end of their deployment. I knew the Battalion Commander and the Command Sergeant Major, two better soldiers never lived. This was not a mistake or oversight, he wasn't given a command while soldiers lives were at risk. He got the job during the period of reorganization, rebuild, and retraining where he would not get anyone killed. I have read elsewhere that he was not by respected by the soldiers of his company.
