Nancy's Fake Fire Alarm
American Thinker.com ^ | February 6, 2020 | A. Welderson

A common experience in public schools is when some smart aleck decides to waste everyone’s time by pulling the fire alarm. The people in charge have to take it seriously. There’d be hell to pay if there was a fire and it was ignored. So, everybody has to file outside, usually in the rain or cold. Then the teachers have to check the whole school before the business of learning can resume. Or as close to learning as can be achieved in public schools these days.

Since October, that’s what’s been going on in Washington. Nancy Pelosi decided it would be fun to pull the impeachment fire alarm. We’ve all been standing outside in the cold since, with the Democrats giggling at all the trouble they caused and how cool they are.

As more than a few have pointed out, the Democrats seem strangely scared of democracy lately. They won’t accept the result of the last presidential election, and are making noises like they won’t accept the next one either if it doesn’t go the way they want. People notice that type of behavior.

When Obama was elected, I commented to a friend that the best which could be expected from his administration would be four years of nonsense and a lot of bad laws to repeal. That proved optimistic. Obama lasted eight years, and we’ve barely made a start at cleaning up the legislative mess he left. But he was president, duly elected, for better or worse. We were stuck with him until the next election. The country had the opportunity in 2012 to trade in Obama for Romney, but Mitt didn’t pass the smell test (and his odor hasn’t improved since, to be honest).

Is anyone else struck by the irony: the party of Big Government has spent 3.5 years (at least) failing - and barely trying - to expand Big Government? Granted they have the obstacles of the Senate and a Trump presidency but incrementalism has been their stealth approach when they are in the minority and, unfortunately, they usually have a lot of help from squishy GOP types and the deep state.

More irony: voters who think bureaucracies can fix anything stand by and watch their (?) party chase its tail.

Even more irony: because incremental Big Government has been ignored or abandoned by old (emphasis on old) guard Democrats, the so-called new Democrats want a Big Bang - they want to spend imaginary ludicrous sums we don’t have and could never raise and that would nuke the nation and its economy forever. Sanders and his imitators (however fake they may be) are more upset with Pelosi than some Republicans may be.

They write an app to count their own votes and even that doesn’t work.

Nancy Pelosi is finished, all over except the shouting and crying. Ripping up that text of the SOTU address, and doing so in full view of the cameras turned in her direction, was but her crowing achievement (?) in this whole farcical exercise. She probably got plaudits from her base, and perhaps even enough support to retain her seat in Congress, but certainly not enough to continue to hold the position of Speaker of the House beyond this remaining session.

Take retirement, Nancy, and enjoy the remainder of your golden years.

IF her side of the aisle cannot see that she is unbalanced then we should all be worried.

She is afterall, second in line to the Presidency.

Oh, it worked ... as part of the plan to rig the results in favor of Mayor Pete over Bernie.

I am guessing that the app was supposed to rig the votes in favor of quid pro, but it was a little hard when no one notice that anyone anywhere was voting for him. It’s like claiming you landed on the moon when everyone can see the hollywood moon-scape sets - whoops, wrong analogy.

Once when our basement flooded badly my parents stood there in water up to their knees and wondered what to do.

I was 10 years old at the time and said precociously: ‘If the fire department has to pump a lot of water to put out a fire then presumably they have equipment to pump the water out afterwards.’

I was correct. The fire trucks carried pumps the size of a 40 gal garbage can and, when attached to the big fire hoses, pumped all the water out - and far away via the hoses - in under an hour.

By the same token, organizations skilled at tabluating information accurately would include banks and Vegas casinos. OCR machines, bill counters, etc. They have a stake in the accuracy whereas government or party flunkies do not. Unless, of course, government or party flunkies have a stake in an uncertain outcome.

But the point is a paper-based system can work with the correct setup - with the caveat that the old paper system especially the hole-punch nonsense - was not correct.

Electronic voting has failed not due to electronics but due to Luddites in charge, cronyism and absolute power corrupting absolutely.

I wonder how many die hard & long time Democrat voters will change their voting patterns this year due to the outrageous behavior by the Dems & particularly by Pelosi???
\
I have a high school class mate-—1957— who has been a Dem voter all of her life. This past summer she told me she will vote again for Trump. The Dems are no longer impressing her or representing her. I gave her a high five.

Like the old expression:

How does it play in Peoria???
