Ahh, gotcha. I remember reading that at FluTrackers. Thanks for the link. It is interesting. Just remember, that was written early in the outbreak, based on 8 samples. Too early to know for sure.
Other factors could be at play too, severe smog, population that smokes heavily, etc. Also, we must remember viruses adapt and change. Today it might hit one group hard, the next, everyone. Early in H1N1 did that, it appeared to hit African Americans and Hispanics hardest, but at some point changed where it hit everyone hard.
The links in #54 are all I have at this time. I got those off the Q thread.
Thx.
We already knew the polymorphism bit.
I’m off to look now.
So, people think the Chinese are underreporting. OK, let’s say they are. The rest of the world isn’t underreporting and the rest of the world shows very little invasion of the virus.
Maybe that indicates there is something to the “immunity” (which is probably just a lessening of risk, not an actual immunity).
I’ll take it as a possibility since it explains the number.
BTW, no one in Africa or our southern hemisphere has caught it yet. Of course those are places Asians rarely visit.
I can’t find anything about innate european immunity to this.
I’ll have to look a bit more.
That sort of research is usually ‘coded’ in such a way not to offend SJW’s.
Good point, also remember for that a good while people from Wuhan (at least a month) were flying to our country unfettered. I am sure it’s pretty contagious but I think that “Market” had a lot to do with the initial contamination there, sickening thousands right out of the gate ...
Thank you for the thanks!
Ahh, I didn’t think of that.
If the lessened risk for westerners is accurate I think we’ll here more about that soon.
I’d give it a cpl more weeks to crow about innate immunity or lesser risk.
And you’re wrong about Asians visiting Africa. There are literally millions of Chinese in what they call their ‘African colonies’. (No SJW’s in china)
Ditto SA, it’s loaded with them now too. Including the panama canal zone.
I read somewhere that the entire continent of Africa only has 2 labs capable of testing for this thing.
“Is there any time history were we had a virus take out 24589 people in such a short time period?”
I don’t know about the time period but if the Tencent numbers are correct, the percent fatalities for this virus are about 16%. That number is similar to that of the 1918 flu.
Have they issued a statement saying sorry for the error in the numbers?
Actually 16% fatalities are 2 times (or more) those of the 1918 flu.
Correct you are.
I want to know the status of the native born German patients. We haven’t heard anything about them so far.
Are they OK? In ICU? still sick but not criticall ill? Inquiring minds want to know...
But, why so few deaths outside China.??
No western societies are announcing recoveries, none, it’s all hush hush ... Probably a bad sign
Its early in the game for us. China didnt start having official deaths until , there were 100 or so cases Id I recall. The first official US case was Jan 21, just two weeks go. Illness appears to have a duration of anywhere from 6-16 days in literature Ive seen. Many appear to recover then take a turn for the worse. The younger folks who brought it here may not be hit as hard assuming they are young and healthy, but their contacts/family/professors may start showing symptoms right about now, I would think.
The couple in California took a turn for the worse Sunday.
Anyway given all that, I believe we may going start seeing deaths in the west within the next few days.
I suspect due to relative numbers of people who actually travel to/from China, versus the huge number of people who live there and don’t.
Also could be that cases which would have been diagnosed more than 3 weeks ago weren’t, since no one was looking for it.
The fact that they have a cruise ship off of Japan with 10 positives out of 31 people tested (so far) probably worries me the most.
Thanks!
I’ve had all the pneumonia I’m going to have, thanks. I take coconut oil capsules and they keep my lungs clear enough that I no longer have COPD. Series. ;o]
We take straight ‘lauricidin’ when we get under the weather. The pellets. Good stuff, but don’t chew them :) Taste like soap.
