James Carville sounds the alarm as Sanders surges in primary: 'I'm scared to death' for Democratic Party

Democratic strategist James Carville expressed his concerns as the Democratic primary race is officially underway, saying he's "scared to death" of the direction his party is going.

Appearing on MSNBC, Carville began by pointing to the success Democrats had during the 2018 midterm elections and stressed that it "matters" who the candidates are and what the party chooses to talk about.

"I'm 75 years old, why am I here doing this? Because I'm scared to death, that's why," Carville exclaimed. "Let's get relevant here ... all the Sanders people are taking pictures wishing Jeremy Corbyn the best. ... I don't want to go down that path."

“I do not blame the democrats for being upset. This guy IS NOT A DEMOCRAT!!!! Period. He does not even donate to the DNC, yet they allow him to run like he owns it so they do not alienate his supporters.”

You hit it right ... they liked Bernie as long as (1) he wouldn’t be the nominee and (2) all his openly radical people would vote for the party nominee. Reality - the party leaders believe exactly what Bernie believes, and want to do what Bernie wants to do, only he is open and upfront about it - and thus he won’t get elected. This is their Frankenstein, I have no sympathy for them.

I disagree with the view that Bernie would be a democrat disaster in the general. We are not the same country that elected Reagan in two landslides, repudiating McGovernism in the process. The leftist culture has been systematically anti-patriotic for a generation. The younger generation has been indoctrinated. The popular culture is a sewer. The older American civic culture isn't entirely gone, but it has been thoroughly undermined. Much of the democrat base is ideologically socialist, contemptuous of the very idea of private property rights and free markets, blinded to anything but identity politics, and driven by hate. And democrats no longer accept the legitimacy of the opposition party.

Today's democrat party is fully capable of voting for the destruction of the American experiment.

Well butt wipe, you should have thought of that when you socialist pigs double down with the Kenyan usurper.

If you cannot police your own house, you wind up with people like Obama, Pelosi and this string of socialists candidates.

I was happy the President called out the socialists twice in his SOTU.

he could fracture the democrat party in a way that was unimaginable only 4 years ago.

Okay and the downside is what?

We can dwarf the black vote. How?

By white middle class turning out in record numbers to vote.

The working class whites still are the voting block to contend with.

This catering to the “minorities” is not only detrimental, it is useless.

I think they’re going to start pushing Butt edge edge if he gains any traction. Already trying to sell him as the gay Obama. Obama will back him. Probably Hillary as well. As to the caucus something is really amiss. The problem isn’t an app. Everything should have been tallied on paper and was before entered into any app. I believe there was outright cheating to push Butt edge edge ahead. You can’t fix it if districts put him into the second round as viable and then gave him the win because he ended up getting delegates when he shouldn’t have even made round 2. They are trying to find ways to cover that up. I am not fan of Biden but as he is protesting the loudest I have to wonder if some votes were taken from him. He didn’t have a strong ground game. Sanders supporters were on the look out. They had to steal votes from someone. Democrats know Biden is senile and a crook. The only thing they could do is take Butt edge edge delegates away but Bernie would probably want to claim them, maybe rightfully so. What is released is not disputed. Democrats are fighting behind the scenes between those that think rigging is ok to stop Bernie and, well, Bernie. I can’t think of any other explanation.

Just over ten years ago Carville was predicting a forty year Democrat reign. Now he’s seventy-five and watching his party dissolve. Winning!

About five years ago my wife and I were out for a morning walk while visiting Las Vegas and old Serpent Head jogged by. I asked Mrs. LS, “Is that Carville?” She said yes.

I turned and yelled, “James!” He turned around. I said, “You’re wrong!” He kept on jogging.

However, he remains one of the few clear-eyed leftists and he KNOWS these guys are on the verge of Going Full Whig.

Ya never go Full Whig.

I am no fan of Carville, but is instincts on politics are among the best. He is right. Bernie will not only take them over a cliff.... he could fracture the democrat party in a way that was unimaginable only 4 years ago.

But then he goes on to say; "Of course, I'll vote for him...".

Tells you everything you need to know about the Dims.

I see a more likely scenario. Pelosi at 80 yrs old dies or is institutionalized before the next election; AOC assumes the Speakership after a contentious House election and the political comity continues to crumble. Then, November rolls around. The President is re-elected resoundingly and there is a sea change realignment in the House and a Senate pickup of 3 seats. (2 seats + 1 party switcher)

Trump will never carry California.

I agree, but I think he needs to do a rally in Southern California. Even though he won’t win, I would like to see him increase his total vote count. I want trump to win in a landslide and also clean up with the popular vote. He needs to rally Californians to get to the polls.

Of course, was speaking only in relative terms.

Buttygig is the only Democrat who even tries to lie his way towards acting sane or normal to give a pretense of appealing to normal Americans
