Virus particles aren't alive to begin with, so the hypothetical operation of "killing them" is undefined. It is possible to interfere with them, or stop them from doing what they do to host cells, but the problem with silver nanoparticles is you can't get them to where they are needed in sufficient quantity to do any good (except for topical treatment).
