I just read a short biography of Stevens and based on what I read I have to agree with you. Stevens did become unhinged, but Pelosi is past where he was.
Also, Stevens seems to have started life with a real grasp of history and government, while Pelosi only knows political power and the power of confiscation of other people’s money to increase her political power.
I don’t think Stevens — at least in his early years — was such an intellectual vacuum as Pelosi has been her entire life.
