Chief Justice John Roberts Shuts Down Rand Paul’s Question on Alleged ‘Whistleblower’

Supreme Court Justice John Roberts on Wednesday blocked an attempt by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to pose questions regarding the so-called “whistleblower” — the individual who sparked the House Democrats’ partisan impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump — according to reports.

Politico and The Hill state Roberts indicated he would oppose reading Paul’s questions, as it is believed he would be forced to name or provide identifying information on the alleged individual.

Speaking to reporters following a Republican dinner, Paul signaled he may still fight to have his question read.

“It’s still an ongoing process; it may happen tomorrow,” he told reporters.

However, other Senate Republicans, include Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD), appear to have sided with Roberts over Paul.

“I don’t think that happens, and I guess I would hope that it doesn’t,” Thune said when asked if the so-called “whistleblower” will be named.

Roberts has not offered any legal argument for hiding the individual’s identity. As Breitbart News has repeatedly explained, the only statutory protection for people who submit whistleblower complaints is that the intelligence community inspector general (ICIG) cannot name him or her publicly:

Even left-wing mainstream media outlets—CNN, the New York Times, National Public Radio (NPR), and Reuters — determined that, certainly, no law prohibits President Donald Trump or members of Congress from disclosing the name of the leaker who sparked the impeachment inquiry.

“Another judge ignoring law and making his own.”
____________

I think you make an interesting point. Roberts’ power to block the Senator’s question may depend upon how Roberts’ role is defined in an impeachment proceeding. In a normal court case, the Judge can exclude evidence and a party can appeal at a later time if necessary. In an impeachment proceeding there is no appeal from an adverse ruling. Further, by refusing the Senator’s right to speak, Roberts is imposing the will of the judiciary over the power of the Senate. I don’t know the answer to this question, but I think Roberts’ ruling is an abuse of the power given to him by the Constitution to oversee the Senate as it decides on the question of removal. It seems Roberts’ role is simply to keep the proceedings from deteriorating into a partisan squabble. HIs ruling goes well beyond that limited role.

Next,Rand should make Roberts read a question about the secret FISA court that he oversees. Only fair since that is where the Coup was perpetrated.

That would be a good start.

When the process ends with the impeachment of Roberts, the removal of Boasberg and the prosecution of Collyer along with her FBI co-conspirators, we’ll know we’re getting somewhere.

Like back to the nation my ancestors shot at their British overlords to create. Not some Orwellian surveillance state run by deranged paranoids.

Didn’t Paul give out two names in the question?

Excellent rhetorical question.

Roberts is a Kennedy moderate/liberal posing as a conservative solely to build false legitimacy for S.Ct. opinions. If originalists truly gained the majority then they would quickly repeal the anti-American activist usurpation of American sovereignty, as good-faith duty requires. Roberts selectively poses as an originalist solely to falsely bolster select illegitimate activist opinions that our two-party new world order elitists deem temporarily necessary before complete tyranny is fully enacted. Roberts rattled his last coherent thought together countless seizures ago.
