Romney is already on the path to be a one-term Senator.
I don't think Collins would go that far, but she will play both sides until the final vote, which makes it extremely difficult for Republicans to form a unified front.

Trump only won Utah with 45% of the vote in 2016, while Romney got 62% in 2018. And even though 2018 was a midterm election, he received 155,000 more votes than Trump in 2016. Being Mormon trumps everything in much of Utah, and Romney will be over 4 years removed from this betrayal. By that time, Trump will either be long gone, or a lame duck on his way out. I don't think it hurts him as much as people think...
