Senate Impeachment Trial LIVE - day 6
We are too busy ‘picking nits’ with what the Dems troweled out. We are lost in the weeds line by line negating a mountain of accusations rather than zeroing in on the coup, which would explain the Dems actions.
Not as a practical matter, Schumer will say that the president's team did not dispute the facts or conclusions, just the process. And that the trial needs witnesses.
The ultimate vote on the articles is going to be along partisan lines, with one or two flipping each way. Romney to convict, Manchin to acquit, maybe a few others, but almost purely along party lines.
That outcome was fixed long ago, and won't change no matter what arguments or facts are presented.
The very good FACTS brought to bear here, that the subpoenas are fake, will be dismissed as wacky legal theory, simply by citing and misrepresenting some precedent.
The public is literally unable to tell fact from fiction when it comes to legal process.
Philbin makes a strong point that the Senate does not want to accept this kind of halfway done impeachment effort, because it will become the new normal, and put new requirements on a Senate trial.
Correct. If the Senate falls for the House Dem trick, they’ve given the House a new weapon — the ability to use impeachment as a de facto Senate filibuster. They could throw so many impeachments that the Senate would be in perpetual gridlock.
Sadly the senate loves a good excuse to do nothing.
I meant on witnesses. Dow down 444 pts. Ahould be back up tommorrow.
Nerds rule....he is awesome!
Hoping certain RINOS are listening and if they vote for witnesses what they could do to this country!

I think they’ll get to that, but the main criticism of the dems is they have no facts.
The president is listing the facts.
The facts of process.
The facts of the case.
Sometimes facts are mundane. Sometimes facts don’t make for good drama.
But all the facts are important.
The facts of process.
The facts of the case.
those are REAL flies. Drawn to the fetid stench of Nadler’s unwashed crevices.
Sadly the senate loves a good excuse to do nothing.
But they don’t like being under the thumb of the “lesser house” of Congress. Do not underestimate their view of themselves vis-a-vis the HOR.
This argument now being presented is a very strong one for McConnell to use to keep the 53-47 majority to exclude all witnesses. If anyone is protective of the Senate, it’s McConnell.
The Virus is driving the markets down.
When the public hears about legal process and procedure, they yawn and tune out. They want DRAMA and would love to see Bolton come in and implicate the president in some way, or merely say something that Schiff and co. can turn into a false narrative. I hope McConnell and the senators do their job and put a quick end to this farce, because this is a slam dunk acquittal. Not a lawyer, but I believe they call this “summary judgment” when the evidence is just not there. NOT GUILTY.
Our President gets the best and the finest. Love the whole team.

me too
I know, cnbc says it will go back up, that it needed to let off steam.
Point taken, and you are 100% correct on that.
I bet these senators don't care though, about the institution. They are short term thinkers, void of vision. They also know the senate has no obligation to be consistent. It can shut down anything it wants, for no good reason, as easily as it picks things up for no good reason.
WOW! HE DROPED SCHUMER!!
I am not. I was listening to the c-span livestream. I switched to fox since they are not streaming talking heads during breaks.
Stocks taking dip has nothing to do with trial...rather the virus.
I have to agree. We need street fighters and knife artists here, not venerable elders talking to the cerebral among us, and too genteel even to follow Queensbury rules. Those who can grasp Starr's arguments, need no convincing; they're already convinced.
Let's get to the body blows. Let's get right to Adam Schiff saying that this "cannot be decided at the ballot box," and that "no constitution can protect us."
Just in case anybody's still tuned in. :(
