That’s because there is no mechanism for impeaching Representatives or Senators. They can be expelled from their own House by a 2/3rds vote of the members. But as Adam Clayton Powell showed, there’s nothing stopping an expelled member from running and winning his own seat. STOTUS has ruled the House or Senate has to seat the previously expelled member.

Thanks...I did not know impeachment/conviction did not include the legislative branch. I was aware Powell was expelled, but not the details.

How about Hastings getting impeached and convicted and then getting elected to the House...obviously there is zero threshold of embarrassment.
