Cipollone: Impeachment Dems 'Came Here - for 24 Hours - and Hid Evidence from You'

Despite talking for 24 hours in the Senate impeachment trial, Democrats failed to mention key evidence, because they know facts aren’t on the side, President Donald Trump defense attorney said in opening statements Saturday as Trump’s defense began arguments.

Cipollone promised that Trump’s attorneys would present the evidence that Democrats omitted, and said that those watching should ask: “Why am I just hearing about this now, after 24 hours of sitting through arguments?”:

“The fact that they came here, for 24 hours, and hid evidence from you, is further evidence that they don’t really believe in the facts of their case.”

The Democrats – not President Trump – are actually the ones trying “to perpetrate the most massive interference in an election in American history,” Cipollone said:

“That this is, for all their talk about election interference, that they’re here to perpetrate the most massive interference in an election in American history. And, we cannot allow that to happen.

“It would violate our constitution. It would violate our history. It would violate our obligations to the future. And, most importantly, it would violate the sacred trust the American people have placed in you and have place in them.

Cipollone was awesome, mesmerizing, even. His presentation of the facts was incredible, clear and unmistakable. I watched every word spoken there today. All of it was irrefutable. I look forward to more on Monday. It is so refreshing to hear lawyers actually present facts rather than fiction.

It was on Abc CBS NBC at 7 AM my time this morning.

Then, by 10 AM-—NOTHING. I am pretty sure they were still presenting Trump’s defense-—which is MOST important to me, but I cannot get that telecast-—IF it even exists.

The Trump attorneys were succinct, direct, polite, and laid out fact after fact after fact. Unlike Schittforbrains and Lard@ss, there were no factless ad hominem attacks, silly melodrama, bullying and threats.

They did a great job in the 2 hours they used...pointed out a lot of hidden truths, some obvious lies and even the coverup by Schiff as he pushed Ciaramella out of the spotlight...not to mention that the WH “coverup” is another lie because they bypassed the legal system in requesting files, etc.....because Nancy’s press conference saying she was telling them to gather info was unconstitutional and bore no legal weight...

I thought they did a super job, gave spectrum-wide relevant data and debunked the whole case for any thinking person...along with the validity of Dems saying they needed more documents and witnesses because the WH wouldn’t cooperate...when the requests were not legal (which many of us knew and pointed out when they first started).
Now I can’t wait for them to begin, in earnest, tomorrow...

They've sent mixed message on that, but generally, I agree, they're telegraphing they'll take less time than the House managers did.

Sekulow was asked directly, and he said we'll take all the time we need, and that the exact presentation is still quite fluid. There will be less repetition than from the House managers, but some of the defense is material outside of the four corners of the accusation - this is what "affirmative defense" is, by nature.

For example, to justify not engaging FBI or State department to deal with allegations of corruption in Ukraine - show how the FBI lied and cheated in an effort to get Trump, and how actors in the diplomatic corps were running interference to conceal ongoing corruption. No evidence of that sort is in the House managers portfolio, because the House was not after the truth, it was and is after Trump.

Congress is just as engaged in cover-up of corruption as the FBI and state department are.

Following the 24 hours each side, the process anticipates a motion by Trump to exclude evidence based on hearsay and other objections. After that, 16 hours of questions from Senators (the Senate used about 11 hours of this for Clinton), then 4 hours equally divided for closing arguments, then comes the time for motions for additional witnesses. I think the appetite for additional witnesses will be different then, than it is now.

I honestly believe that the RATs were so effective in hiding info that even the MSM were partially truly ignorant, and learned things during the GOP’s presentations. I think it was Jesse Watters who played some MSM clips who seemed to be complimentary to Cipollone, et al.

BTW, at the beginning of his show last night, Watters gave an excellent synopsis of the information that refuted RAT narrative and testimony. I’m hoping to find the text of it.

I know it would be a big off topic, but at the end I wish the POTUS team would put up a PowerPoint slide with a line down the middle.

On the left, list the work of PDJT since 2016, and on the right list the work of the House during that time. The left would be jam packed full of big things, while there would one single thing on the other: “Impeachment.” People need to understand they’ve done NOTHING for the citizens.
