The best recourse is to adhere to basic principles and not give a nod to the politics. The procedure should be objective even if the jury is not. Roberts is a wuss and McConnel knows he has the votes, so principle be damned.
The republican senators are relying on the vote and elating the democrats run rampant. Except for the last procedural votes. They should have walked out of the house hearings when it was not fair process following due process.
Agreed in principle, but between the Managers effectively calling the Senate a treasonous and corrupt chamber, and Schumer's nearly hourly press gaggles throwing off any appearance of impartiality, I'm sure the Republican Senators are having to sit on their hands and bite their tongues.
A 'prosecutor' scolding the jury never works out well, but at this point, it's not about convincing the jury, but damaging the President.
