Latinos Explains Why They Voted for Trump -

Florida represents an important battleground during presidential elections. The swing state went twice for George W. Bush, then twice for Barack Obama and then it went to Donald Trump in 2016. Vice President Pence spent Thursday campaigning in the Sunshine State where the Trump campaign hopes to win again in 2020.

Thursday evening the vice president spoke at a Latinos for Trump event at a Kissimmee church called Nación de Fe. He said that the nation needs “four more years” with President Trump at the country’s helm.

“But to keep America great, we need you to decide right here and right now that Florida’s going to vote for four more years of President Donald Trump in the White House,” the vice president declared. He added that, “four more years means more jobs. Four more years means more judges. Four more years means more support for our troops. And it’s gonna take at least four more years to drain that swamp.

According to 2016 exit polls President Trump earned 28 percent of the Latino vote nationally and 35 percent of the Latino vote in the Sunshine State. He ultimately won Florida’s 29 electoral votes which made up a significant percentage of his final tally of electoral votes.

"We are Latinos who will united and mobilize to re-elect President Donald J. Trump," the Latinos for Trump campaign website declares. "Another four years means more jobs, better education for our kids, and freedom from big government.

Latinos for Trump advisory board member Bertica Cabrera Morris and former Attorney General of Puerto Rico José Fuentes both indicated that Hispanics share the same concerns as Americans at large. Morris is an immigrant from Cuba who said that President Trump “has kept the promises he made.” Fuentes serves as an advisor to the Trump campaign.

“We are much more secure, we have more money in our pockets, our kids have jobs, we have better jobs, we’re paying less taxes and life is good,” Fuentes said. “That’s the message that we’re bringing to this community.”

Trump supporter Leonel Enriquez attended the event on Thursday—a Cuban immigrant who came to the U.S. in 1961 and then became a citizen in 1970, Enriquez voted for Trump in 2016 and plans to vote for him again in 2020.

Cheny Bright, an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, also voted for Trump during the last election and plans to vote for him again this year. She said that this was the first time she had ever attended a Trump campaign event.

Alberto Rodriguez will also be a repeat Trump voter in 2020. He described Trump as the first president since Ronald Reagan “fighting for the American people instead of fighting the American people” and the first since Reagan who “really has our back as Americans.”

The dirty little secret....

Legal immigrants hate illegals...

The useless GOP never tried for the immigrant vote or the black vote...

They just loved getting money for reelection from the open borders business lobby

They say one reason FL is fading as a GOP state is the dwindling percentage of anti-Castro Cubans.

Others displacing them by the tens of thousands.

Someone who lives in Sarasota told me “Most of the people on our block moved in during the past year. I can’t talk with any of them because I can’t speak Spanish. We smile and wave, though.”

“I can’t talk with any of them because I can’t speak Spanish.”

Wrong thought process.

You can’t talk with any of them because they can’t and/or won’t speak English.

If they are legal, they probably do speak English

You’re right.

Someone said “I shouldn’t have to feel awkward and have difficulty in conversing with an employee in English in my own country in a convenience store.”

“They say one reason FL is fading as a GOP state is the dwindling percentage of anti-Castro Cubans.”

I don’t mean to be argumentative but I don’t think Florida is fading as a GOP state. In fact it’s probably strengthening as a GOP state.

GOP holds all but one of the state level executive offices:

“Fried became the first Democrat to win the Commissioner of Agriculture position since 1998, the only Democrat to win a statewide race in Florida in 2018”. She barely won that race 50.04% to 49.96% and that was probably fraudulent.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikki_Fried

They hold the state senate 23-17, the state house 73-47, both US Senators are GOP and yes they are barely ahead for US House reps 14-13 but that is mainly due to court-ordered gerrymandering.

Desantis’ approval rating is sky high

https://wjno.iheart.com/featured/florida-news/content/2019-12-20-desantis-maintains-high-job-rating/

I’m not saying that the Florida GOP shouldn’t be diligent but it appears as if they’ve done better than many state GOP’s across the country and Florida is not fading as a GOP state.

FL not fading....

I truly hope you are right.

We cannot let FL and TX and AZ become the next Virginia. We have one Blackface Northam to deal with already.

I can vouch for that. I used to be immigrant and followed rules to the letter. I was very happy when I granted green card and later citizenship after more than 10 years

Now it seems that all someone has to do is walk over US border somewhere. Then No problem with work permits ; no problem with food stamps ( I have not taken a dime !); no problem with driver license; oh I almost forgot, we pay your tuition in college. WTF!!!!

You better believe Trump won't make that mistake!

Thank you Sir, for following the rules and the laws. You are the kind of immigrant this great Nation welcomes. I would be proud to have you as a neighbor.

Congratulations on becoming a citizen. You probably still know more about US civics to get your citizenship than most native born citizens. Again, I commend you and thank you.

I live in the People’s Republic of California and I have never felt awkward speaking English in a convenience store or anywhere else.

Re: Florida is not fading as a GOP state.

I disagree.

Trump, Rick Scott, and the Governor all won by less than 2% in 2016 and 2018.

About 10% of Puerto Rico has moved to Florida since The Great Recession and a couple of severe hurricanes.

Restoration of voting rights to felons - who are 75% Black and Hispanic - could be the final nail in the GOP coffin.

The First Wave of Cuban immigrants from the 1960s, and their children and grandchildren, still vote Republican, but their percentage of the total Hispanic vote gets smaller and smaller every year.

Trump can still win Florida in 2020.

After that, I think Florida is gone in presidential elections.

I think trump will win florida by more than he did last time, Rubio won florida by at least 200k more votes than trump which actually gave him a nearly 770k winning margin, it seems trump could easily win by 300-500k this time with all his accomplishments.

What does Pence's rallies look like? Does he help or hinder President Trump?

Happy for you.

Comedian Mark Russell said “Is this America a land of opportunity or what.

A guy who at this time yesterday was in Baghdad. Doesn’t speak a word of English. And today he is your cab driver in Manhattan. That’s opportunity.
