Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) asserted Wednesday during MSNBC’s live coverage of the House vote to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate that President Donald Trump “hates” that he will be known as a president that was impeached “for the rest of his career.”
McCaskill said, “Well, the trial already began because the president spent at least a half-hour shamelessly sucking up to the jurors that were in the White House for the China ceremony. I don’t recall a president going through senators name by name by name heaping praise. I mean, this is really a record for him. He usually can’t go that long without talking about himself. So the fact that he could talk about these senators in such glowing terms for so long, he knows that’s his firewall. That the Republican senators have to stop this. They have to — like, staunch the bleeding. And frankly, I think there’s going to be some really uncomfortable Republican senators because with the document dump we got lost night smart Republican senators know it’s going to look terrible if they say we don’t want to see any more documents.”

The difference, Clair, is that Donald J. Trump will go back to being a multi-billionaire businessman and you will just stay an obscure, unremembered, FORMER Senator from Missouri who was thrown out by voters for your incompetence.

I hope that Republicans are ready for a scrap and the same thing is done when their guy or girl gets into office. Because Democrats just took the first swing and missed. But it was a swing intended to hurt just the same. Civility and respect are gone.
There is a glimmer of hope — that the Senate can bring back decorum and legitimacy to Congress. But I am not holding hope but I will be watching intently.

I agree, impeachment has been cheapened. The meaning has been watered down by the left. It’s sort of like the watering down of the Nobel Peace Prize after being given to Barack Obama for doing nothing. I see a pattern here, the left generally has less respect for traditions, rules and laws than conservatives, so they bend or ignore rules because it is expedient for their short term goals, but it hurts their credibility in the longer term.
And the The first and ONLY President to be re elected after being ”impeached”.
As much as the Dems keep trying to push the “historic” affect of their insanity.. history will NOT be kind to them for this.

I remember Claire as the Senator that campaigned against Josh Hawley by claiming to tour Missouri in her motor home. She was in her motor home when visible, but then she would sneak away and get into her $500K airplane and fly to the next scheduled stop to meet the motor home. She was a phony liar then and she still is. Hawley beat her like a bass drum. She blames President Trump for it.
