Pretty sure Trump is going to remain President for life as well :)

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer been hanging around for 40 years each and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

I’m sure Trump would serve that long if he were allowed to run for more than two terms. And could escape Antifa bullets.

I’m worried more about the permanent, leftist/statist deep state in Washington DC.

The proposed constitutional changes have merit but most Russians expect Putin to return in 2024 as a more powerful Prime Minister.

No one seriously expected him to remain a lame duck.

Why can’t they impeach the evil Putin instead of resigning? My Russian source says Putin is hated by those outside of Russia, no so much by those inside. Some will mention Trump for life? If he is impeached, what is to hold him back from forming his own party, and running for President on a separate ticket? It may divide the Republican Party vote, but who cares those who would not vote for him would vote for a Democrat leaning republican either way. There may be some blue dog democrats out there to make up for it along with lots of Independents. How much would it take? 1st, get media power, buy independent news outlets to spread the word, compete with the Alphabets. Hammer away at the BS Press, and run squeaky clean independent candidates for office. ............. Excuse me, gotta go, my wife is calling, I have to take my meds.

It will all pass easily because United Russia has a constitutional supermajority.

Getting two thirds is baked in the cake.

“Putin said he favored changing the constitution to hand the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament, the power to choose Russia’s prime minister and other key positions.”

That’s the end of any semblance of democratic voting in Russia. It would be a return to Russia 40 yrs ago

The average Russian person is much like the average American. Most Russians are Christians, love their kids/families, are hard workers, respect education and follow the laws. Too many men seem to have a weakness for alcohol which leads to many divorces but that may be when good jobs are hard to find so it’s difficult to raise one’s social status.

Despite these similarities, Russians always end up living under an authoritarian, police government. Putin has had his years of power by being a dictator with the support of big, local oligarchs who back him as he allows them to be corrupt, own the major big businesses/ resources and get away with oppressing their workers and local citizens.

The oligarchs thank Putin with money kickbacks and taxes. Putin uses this money to keep the military and police happy. The police and secret police shut up all protests and media so no opposition political party can exist. Whistleblowers and non-tame journalists usually accidentally fall out of windows at a great height.
