Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) sent a public warning shot on Monday night, saying that if Republicans support Democrats' impeachment witness requests then he will force votes during the trial on calling witnesses conservatives want to hear from.
"My colleagues can’t have it both ways. Calling for some, while blocking others," Paul tweeted referencing a Politico report on a similar private warning his gave GOP colleagues against supporting Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer's request that former national security adviser John Bolton testify.
"If we are going to give a platform to witnesses the Dems demand, I look forward to forcing votes to call Hunter Biden and many more!" Paul continued.

Best scenario is the Senate calls for a vote for dismissal and it passes. The dems in the House then look like the petulant toddlers they are. It really is hard to believe grown adults acted the way they did due to their clear case of TDS.

Anyone who would try a president and not allow him EVERY defense witness the president requests is a skunk who cares nothing about our country or system of government.
If truth be told there should have been witnesses at the Clinton trial. The Democrats and media made a fool out of Trent Lott. I saw reporters demand of Lott: “But you don’t want witnesses!?” Rather than say why the hell not, he stammered like a coward.
Those were prosecution witnesses. Now we see Republicans who will want witnesses against their president - but not defense witnesses. Disgraceful.

He’s principled, I disagree with him about the killing of the Iranian terrorist but I understand his position.
Good cop bad cop is a mainstay tactic of Trump politics and key allies like Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham play one role or the other in conjunction with the admin or with McConnell.
This has been going on for quite some time. It’s amusing as all hell once you’re aware of it, as key enemy characteristic are lack of self-awareness, situational awareness, and self-control.
