The real story is who decided the word “crossfire” should be used here, and what precisely was the mechanism by which they communicated this to all those media flacks?

Maybe it was not a mistake at all? We might never know for sure.
This was no mistake. 130+ passengers headed to Canada -- most likely Iranian expats naturalized Canadian living in Toronto or Montreal on vacation in Iran to see their families for the Holidays. Shooting that plane down was one way of the Iranian regime to say: "F.U. Canada, US, Trump, Trudeau, Western Civilization". Those passengers might as well have been all American.
I really don’t know who is more pathetic. Them or the people who listen to them for their “news”.
I’m not sure it was a mistake, either. That plane STARTED the flight very nearby from where it was shot down. Also it would have had navigation lights and a beacon on, something a hostile aircraft would not.
We don’t know if it was an accident.
The CIA might not refer to it's media control that was exposed decades ago as "Mockingbird" anymore, but for all intents and purposes, it is still large and in charge. Hence: MSM = Mockingbird State Media

I’m still not convinced of the “accidental” aspect of this. I don’t believe in coincidences and when Iran invokes #IR655 two days before the same thing happens again I start to believe this is enemy action. Intentional action designed for this exact response. No one will blame Iran and everyone will blame Trump.

Agreed. I’m waiting for someone in the alternative media to do a deep dive on the mainstream press to find out who’s pulling the strings. I don’t mean just naming companies, we know Comcast, ATT etc. I mean naming people at the top of these organizations specifically. It may have been done, but I haven’t seen it. I’ve always believed that the media narrative is controlled by less than ten individuals. Maybe less than five. I also believe it’s the number one issue in our country. If our collective media was halfway objective, Trumps approval rating would be 70% or more.

Agree. Most of us are never in a situation where we’re manning something like a SAM and told to be ready for an attack. To be in that position requires a lot more than an instruction manual and a week of training. Being in a combat setting is nothing to sneeze at - things start to blur and confusing reigns...which is why that head-shot at the church was so amazing!
Anyway, what you need are simulations, and more simulations, and tons of training, including recurrent training. If you don’t have it and you see a target, you get jumpy...and then you can easily fire on your own people, as happened here. Back in 1982, Syria had a bunch of Soviet SAMs in Lebanon. Israel attacked. When Syrians operated the SAMs, Israel did fine, taking them out. But then the SAMs were manned by Russians and Israel started losing planes. Same missiles...different operators.

It was two missiles. I suspect the Iranians do not train often on their expensive military equipment. Too easy to break stuff during training.

While the MSM and reporting news agencies reporting such incidents knowingly avoid referencing the religious aspect of these conflicts. Portray the conflicts going on between entities in the area as territorial when they are actually sectarian based on enforcing absolute conformity to a theocracy. Which orders followers to adhere to Koranic laws that go unquestioned by leading mono theistic leaders like Pope Francis obey what they claim are Our Creator’s orders which has them authorized by God to execute unbelievers including those fleeing the area they control.
