(CA) Proposed ban on gas-powered lawn equipment worries Santa Maria-area landscapers

California regulators have proposed a ban on the sale of gas-powered landscaping equipment, worrying Santa Maria

Valley landscapers who say the move would impact their ability to serve their clients.State regulators with the California Air Resources Board said they plan to ask board members to sign off on a plan by the end of the year to gradually reduce the emissions from items like lawn mowers and leaf blowers to zero. The move is an important one to reduce air pollution, said Karen Caesar, a spokeswoman for the board.

Caesar said the work put into reducing pollution from car engines hasn’t translated at the same level for lawn mowers, and that the devices often emit more harmful gases than cars.

According to CARB, running the best-selling leaf blower for one hour releases as much smog-forming pollution as driving a 2017 Toyota Camry from Los Angeles to Denver.

While some municipalities — particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area — have banned the use of gas-powered equipment, the air resources board’s proposal would only affect the sale of new products.

Those who purchase gas-powered equipment before any new emission standards kick in will continue to be able to use them until the devices requirement replacement.

While the proposal calls for stricter emission standards to phase in over time starting in 2022 at the earliest, local landscapers said such a move would hurt their businesses.

Neil Towery, general manager of All Weather Landscape Maintenance in Santa Maria, said the biggest issue with electric equipment is not the cost but performance.“A single battery is only good for a limited amount of time,” he said.

NO WAY. How would this ban help control brush growth, so we don’t have those massive state fires? Sign the petition to remove Gov Newsom.

The normal people need to remove the radical pinkos from public life, academia and government.

Forcibly, if need be.

Stock up on replacement parts! (Or smuggle in new equipment from Nevada.) Local gov't making criminals out of us, someone is gonna run a lawn mower over state reps.

I think the state of CACA needs to require all gas powered lawnmowers and weed-eaters to be licensed, smog tested and registered.

this move guarantees to vastly increase the chances and intensity of wildfires, but on the plus side, CA governments cans vastly increase the fines collected from citizens for not cutting their grass ...

Gawd Dam CARB. I cannot describe how much I hate that fascist bureaucracy.

Who else puts robot exhaust sniffers on freeway on ramps to entrap emission control scofflaws?

Forcing “immigrant” gardeners and landscapers to use 19th century hand tools like slave laborers.

Raciss Kalifornia politicians!

In your dreams. The voters of Calif wanted this crap. Election after election put more of them in office.

Face it, the "normal" voters in Calif are fine with this crap, or would have stopped it before electing Boxer, etc.

"California regulators [??? emphasis added ...]"

Californians evidently have the same major constitutional problem with non-elected state government regulators that the fed’s have.

More specifically, neither the federal Constitution, or the California state constitution, allow for non-elected bureaucrats to tell citizens what to do.

"Article IV, California Constitution

Section 1 Text of Section 1: The legislative power of this State is vested in the California Legislature which consists of the Senate and Assembly, but the people reserve to themselves the powers of initiative and referendum."

So just as federal career lawmakers unconstitutionally front-end “federal” legislative powers, actually stolen state powers in most cases, with non-elected bureaucrats imo, wrongly weakening the voting power of citizens by doing so, non-elected California “regulators” likewise unconstitutionally weaken voting power.

But Congress to the rescue (yeah, right) of California citizens being oppressed by non-elected state actors!

After all, the Founding States gave the feds the express constitutional power to guarantee each state a republican form of government which misguided California elected officials are not providing for the state’s citizens.

"Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government [emphasis added], and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

H O W E V E R…

We’re still stuck with a worthless Congress left over from the lawless Obama Administration that will presumably munch popcorn while watching California officials take gas-powered lawn equipment from landscapers and homeowners on CNN during breaks from fake impeachment of PDJT.

The remedy for constitutionally failed federal and state governments…

Patriots in the whole nation need to rescue the good citizens of California from under the boots of their activist state government by electing a new patriot Congress in the November elections that will not only promise to fully support PDJT’s already excellent work on MAGA, now KAGA, but will also do this.

New patriot lawmakers also need to promise to do their constitutional duty to make penal laws that discourage state actors from abridging constitutionally enumerated protections, guaranteeing a republican form of government for each state in this example.

Remember in November!

MAGA! Now KAGA! (Keep America Great Always!)

A few years ago, I read about CA homeowners complaining that they couldn’t sleep-in on Saturday mornings because of the “Mexican bagpipes” (gas leaf blowers) making so much noise.
