Good question on the Canadians....maybe contractors of some sort bailing out before it gets too bad in country for foreigners? Canadians of Iranian background visiting family? (About 150K Iranian-Canadians I think).

WAPO has an article about the passengers today. Very, very sad.

Two newlywed couples, 15 students from Sharif Uni, many brilliant students, engineers, professionals.

Several family groups. 16 children.

many Iranian-Canadians, all well-respected and well thought-of. A dentist, some shop owners, two professors, several engineers.

When you put names and faces to the numbers, it is more than just another disaster. It is a great tragedy.
